I am a Early Intervention Specialist, I work with children with special needs. I call this blog the island of denial because I think some of my parents live on this island whether it is a comfort place or they just believe that there is nothing wrong with their child. It is my job to introduce them to ways to support their child and their learning. That is great until it is time for their Multi factor evaluation and the psychologist comes into the classroom and tests their child for preschool and then we have the meeting and the parent sees the IQ score or they possible mention the word autism or some other kind of developmental delay and then parents just break down.
I'm asking for suggestions on how to gradually prepare these families for what they are going to hear at their MFE meeting.
